Commercial Product Analyst

The Commercial Product Analyst works closely with Director to coordinate strategy in the introduction of new products and maintenance/enhancement of existing products.

  • Works with product director and managers to define, build, and implement product enhancements.
  • Assists product managers with product introductions and line-of business changes.
  • Develops form and rate filings as necessary; works with compliance to manage SERFF filing process.
  • Researches and reports useful information on competitor products, pricing, and activities.
  • Participate in product testing when necessary.
  • Works with compliance team to implement necessary statutory, regulatory changes in all areas of commercial operations.
  • Recommends action plans to alter products, coverages, operating procedures, and business practices as required.
  • Directs the development and publishing of rate/rule manuals and forms for commercial products.
  • Identifies problems affecting policy output and rating, devises solutions, and works with all applicable personnel to achieve system improvements, individual policy corrections, and communication of outcomes.
  • Ad hoc reporting related to reinsurance, underwriting, product, pricing, competitive.
  • Ad hoc analysis as assigned to the commercial product team.
  • Develop and maintain reoccurring reports and dashboards for leading indicators.
  • Works closely with the business analyst to submit requirements for product changes and product deployment to improve development accuracy and specification requirements.

  • Demonstrates a clear understanding of the department operations and possesses technical expertise on coverages, forms, and rating rules.
  • Demonstrates the ability to promptly identify critical issues, evaluate facts from a variety of sources, and make decisive and sound decisions within areas of responsibility.
  • Shares responsibility for achieving underwriting objectives by providing useful information development and executing assigned decision making.
  • Possesses a solid knowledge of the company‚Äôs vision, mission, and strategic plans and is committed to their achievement. Maintains a high level of knowledge of all department activity and is innovative in seeking effective ways to address issues.
  • Is committed to actively pursuing professional continuing education and training.
  • Stays aware of technology advancements in policy processing while evaluating potential strengths and weaknesses of technological support alternatives. Proficiencies will include Microsoft Office products, and other software as appropriate.
  • Demonstrates exceptional skills in the areas of accuracy and attention to detail including strong time management skills and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously and effectively.
  • Shows personal integrity, inspires trust, and sets a positive example through a strong work ethic, commitment, and enthusiasm.

  • Undergraduate degree required or experience commensurate with the role. Professional insurance-related coursework preferred.
  • Commercial Insurance industry experience or knowledge including insurance products, policy transactional processing, underwriting strategy execution, systems development, business process, and compliance rules preferred.
  • Effective communicator through written, oral, and electronic formats with ability to convey complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences required.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills including ability to develop consensus among decision makers required.
  • Demonstrates ethical work manner in dealing with confidential information required.



  • Position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office and mobile equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • Position may require traveling when attending both internal and external meetings, attending conferences and other training events.
  • Flexibility in daily work times and telecommuting is allowed; average 40-hour week; occasional evening, weekend work, or overnight travel may be required as job duties demand.
