A.M. Best Revises Outlooks for Rockingham Insurance Credit Rating 

February 2, 2022  – A.M. Best has revised the outlooks to negative from stable and affirmed the Financial Strength Rating of A (Excellent) and the Long-Term Issuer Credit Ratings of ‘a’ (Excellent) of Rockingham Insurance Company and its affiliates: Rockingham Casualty Company and Rockingham Specialty, Inc. Founded in 1869, the companies are collectively referred to as Rockingham Group, a national Personal Lines, Commercial Lines, and Specialty Lines Insurer, headquartered in Harrisonburg, VA. 

“The credit rating reflects the company’s balance sheet strength, which AM Best assessed as very strong, adequate operating performance, and appropriate enterprise risk management” said Robert Lyon, President & CEO. “We’ve taken actions to strengthen underwriting results, which include rate increases, re-underwriting our book of business and reducing the growth of new business in 2022.”
