Our History

Company History

Rockingham Home Mutual formed over a century ago. When several property owners met at a small church in Port Republic, Virginia, in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Community members became members of the mutual company and had fire policies that covered whatever structures they owned, such as mills, silos, barns, and homes.

Over the years, Rockingham Insurance Company has experienced continued growth through mergers with Virginia mutual companies. Today, we focus on improving the technical capabilities and product lineup to serve our customers better. With over 50,000 policyholders, we offer a full suite of modern insurance policies to fit all of your personal and business insurance needs.
