Rockingham Insurance Celebrates 150^th Anniversary by Giving Back to the Community
HARRISONBURG, Va., January 7, 2019

Unless you have a time machine, you probably don’t remember 1869. But Rockingham Insurance reflects on the year fondly, because it was 150-years ago when several property owners met at a small church in Port Republic, Virginia, in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Community members became members of the mutual company and had fire policies that covered whatever structures they owned, such as mills, silos, barns, and homes. In 2019, Rockingham Insurance will honor the milestone as a solid future built on a distinguished history. The company will incorporate an employee philanthropic program, where each employee will designate a local community organization as the recipient of a $150 donation. Also, Rockingham will partner with the United Way of Harrisonburg and Rockingham County on a collaboration software tool for local non-profits.

In appreciation of customers, Rockingham is launching an exciting giveaway, ‘We’re here, celebrating 150 years and making wishes come true’.  Each month, one contestant will win $150. Rockingham will match this with a donation to Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia. At the end of the year, one of the monthly winners will be drawn as the grand prize winner – a trip to anywhere from here (a $3,500 travel voucher). The giveaway will conclude by granting a wish to a Make-A-Wish child. The Make-A-Wish Greater Virginia benefits children with critical illnesses here in our community, providing a child with hope, strength, and joy during a time that is often full of worry and uncertainty.
