Burt Blosser: Three Decades of Exemplary Customer Service

Nestled on the east side of Rockingham County, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley, is the small town of Elkton, home to 3,000 residents. Over a century ago, about 16 miles from Elkton, several property owners met at a small church in Port Republic and formed Rockingham Home Mutual.   

Elkton is also where you’ll find Burt Blosser Insurance Agency, Inc, representing Rockingham Insurance.

Burt knows a thing or two about this small town and its residents – he was born and raised in Elkton and started with Rockingham Insurance there 36 years ago. For over three decades, Burt has worked hard to protect his community with home, auto, farm,
and small business insurance. 

“I enjoy working with people and helping with their insurance needs,” says Blosser. “It’s not just a business – it’s about establishing that personal relationship and trust.”

In an automated, fast-paced world, Blosser says it’s important to stick to the foundations of customer service to build and maintain personal relationships with customers. 

“Customers like to have an agent they know and trust,” says Blosser. “In today’s business environment, many people like to work digitally, which we can always do, but we also provide the ‘old-fashioned’ service that is still needed in our business today.”

And he’s been rewarded for that trust: Blosser has the coveted distinction of being named Rockingham Insurance Agent of the Year four years in a row!

“Receiving this honor once is a huge accomplishment; to receive it four times is unprecedented,” said Tonya Eaton, director of personal lines sales distribution for Rockingham Insurance. “Burt is passionate about delivering excellent customer service, which does not go unnoticed.”

Blosser is quick to pass along the credit to his two staff members: office manager, Nancy Dinges, and customer service representative and daughter-in-law Lara Blosser. Both Nancy and Lara are also licensed insurance agents. 

Blosser and his team not only provide exceptional insurance protection to their customers, they also provide exceptional support to their community.

“There is nothing more important to our clients than their children, and we help ensure their childrens’ success by supporting local public school events and little leagues – this supports their interests and helps them grow and do the things they love,” says Blosser.
