1. Only Buy Certified Products: When purchasing a device that uses a lithium-ion battery, look for a safety certification mark such as UL, ETL, or CSA. These marks indicate the product meets important safety standards.
2. Charge Devices Safely:
   • Always use the charger that came with the device or one approved by the manufacturer and follow their charging instructions.
   • Charge devices on a hard, flat surface, like a table, instead of a bed or couch.
   • Do not overcharge - unplug the device or remove the battery once it is fully charged.
3. Recycle Batteries Responsibly: Never throw lithium-ion batteries in the trash or in regular recycling bins, as they could ignite. Recycle them safely at a certified location. Visit call2recycle.org to find a recycling spot near you.
