When Winter comes to an end, your vehicle needs attention to get ready for spring weather and driving. The experts at Driving School recommend these steps for auto maintenance now to enjoy Spring and be ready roll in the Summer.

  1. Check your tires Freezing temperatures and icy conditions cause wear and tear on your tires. Check your tire pressure and rotate your tires regularly. If the tread is worn, replace them as soon as you notice.
  2. Go to a car wash Cold temperatures and road salt lead to chipping and scratches on your vehicle. Head to a car wash for an extra deep clean or add baking soda to your water and soap if your vehicle’s salt buildup is significant.
  3. Replace wiper blades and fluids If your windshield wipers are streaking, it’s time to replace them. New blades are simple to find and easy to replace. Remember also to top off your windshield wiper fluid and apply treatments to repel rain. Rain repellant treatments can be an option at your local car wash, or an inexpensive product used at home.
  4. Check your battery Evaluate your car’s overall electrical system. Many mechanic shops have free battery-testing services. Checking your overall battery life prevents breaking down unexpectedly and dead-battery situations.
  5. Change your oil Follow the manufacturer’s suggestions for oil change intervals. Regular oil changes increase your car’s longevity and ensure it is functioning to the best of its ability.

Checking your auto insurance coverage is easy. Talk to a local Rockingham Insurance agent for peace of mind you're protected on the road.
